Huthari Durga Trek

During collage days I struggled to express my love for adventure with my pals.It went to an extent where my pals discouraged, saying,"don't do stuff like that,we won't let you". When I tagged along with Basc for the first trek, everything changed from then on. :) Grateful for having met people who share the same enthusiasm and more  for the love of trekking.
Its not just the place that adds depth to your trek experience but also the warmth of the people who you trek with.Mid December climate is amazing for treks around Bangalore, sunny, but not too hot.It was Harsha's first time into organising a trek with Basc and he's done a fabulous job.
The vehicles for the trek was carpooled and I happen to travel with an adventurous family of four,
Uma,Ravi and there two lovely kiddos Raj & Puru. There was not short of entertainment before the trek, with Raj introducing us elders to one of his school games called Atlas, which we happily and competitively played till we reached the trek spot. So absorbed in the game that we lost track of the beautiful changing scenery of the Magadi road :D ,that's what children do to you :) They bring out the kid in you. :)

The starting point of the trek starts from a couple's house who owns a brick factory and the surrounding farms. The lady was kind enough to let us girls  use their restrooms.
The trek starts with a walk through the banana plantations soon followed by another set of village houses with their livestock greeting us as we move along. Then the landscape gives way to small wild bushes and flowering plants and medium sized stones forming uneven steps for our ascend. We passed a hill that we didn't had to climb, but the guessing game started for the rock formations, for which we got some pretty interesting answers :P

The trek is an easy trek with stone steps leading the way to the temple up the hill.Plain rocky surface of the hill with steps carved into it,a small fort built on Huthari Durga.Few places to rest in the shade of small/medium trees. Then comes the best part of the trek, tall grass.Just loved walking through the tall grass,it was almost 5 feet tall. The grassy landscape turned out to be the look and feel of that place. Beautiful, just beautiful. :)

The entire team rested behind the temple.Filled our tummies with snacks. The entertainment continued with introduction round with Samruth another little trekker of the group taking the centre stage. :) Our little Apple red guy :) .After an ample amount of rest,we headed towards another part of the hill where it's believed to be Kempegowda's home. And from there to another view point. Then we started the descend.

In no time we reached the base of the hill and back to our cars.Washed our faces in the cool bore water of the farmland, which is also quite an experience. :) The third leg of this trek was only one goal,FOOD!!! :D There are almost no restaurants on Magadi road like how you would find on Mysore or Tumkur road,so beware :P
Unable to control our hunger,we stopped at a roadside vegetable vendor and raw carrots looked liked
the most heavenly food on this planet :P :D Now you can imagine our condition :D Then we stopped again to have sugarcane juice and tender coconut, only to convince our minds,we can make it till Bangalore for some more food. We didn't take chances with the dhabas on the road.
From there,it was a nonstop drive to Nagarbhavi to have lunch. Then you can imagine.:P 20 hungry people storming a restaurant, confusing the waiters with orders and reorders by calculating the amount of food to be consumed.Diving, digging into the plates and bowls of food that reached the table. We would fit to be the rightful actors of the Hunger Games series 2015 :P

With all the fun, drama and not to forget the adventure, which would turn beautiful memories with the passing years.I am still soaking in the mesmerizing beauty of the place and the wonderful people I trekked with.

Sharing Happiness & Hungry for more Adventure ;)
Shruthi
