bikerni ride 2014

When Bike ride=breathe taking location + incredible company+ good food+ your beloved bike of course. That’s when you’ll say,”You really can’t explain it,but you’ve got to experience it. ”

You would have noticed that I didn’t include kms covered, simply because it really doesn’t matter. This short sweet ride holds testimony for it,read on to find out why

It was amazing to find my friends from bikerni and hop on gurls unite not for a cause, not for an biking event or party but for the idea we all hold dear, the love for riding. And for the first time we there were 11bikes + 1activa and 18 girls. Over the few years, its good to see the number of lady riders unite for rides.Otherwise you only get to hear stories of these illusive riders :P Most of us were new to each others riding style, but one could tell we all synced in rite from the start. The ones who could not make it were missed too.

Thanks to Madhuri our fellow biker for talking about her ride to Tattekere, that Rosh & I decided to go,after a long wait of 1 year.Don't ask me why 1 year? probably it was never really in the cards up until now.I still remember Madhuri talking about the beautiful country side route to Tattekere.

Rosh was kind enough to put my name as host for this event on fb,but all the credit of bringing all these girls together really goes to Rosh.I must say,Rosh & I were a little apprehensive of me :P not making it on time at the meeting point due to certain constraints and probably witness irritation among the riders. But all the ladies were kind and so chilled out, greeting each one with a broad smile and hug,we knew no one was in a hurry to get it over with the ride.

And so the morning began with Rosh's missed call as always at 5am telling me to be on time, and not to give her a heart attack for not picking up her calls :P When I replied I am still enjoying England vs Italy FIFA World Cup match. "You monkey, get dressed soon and be on time" came the next reply. If not a heart attack,I am guessing a nervous break down this time :P

One of the most beautiful roads heading out of Bangalore, got to be Kanakapura road. Trees on both sides of the road, low land,,hills, lakes along the higway. That road never fails to create the magical feel when you go out for a ride any season of the year. The roads are maintained in a decent condition, but let me warn you, beware of the traffic on that road, sometimes you can encouter some crazy drivers, who think the road only belongs to them.

We took the left near Harohalli, which connects kanakapura road to Anekal. We took all the time to reach that junction just making sure that we could see the rider ahead and behind. When we took that left and moved away from the crowed spot,I was wondering Madhuri were are the roads you talked about. After few kms nothing prepared us for the beautiful country side which then gradually turned into a wildlife reserve. One has to go atleast 100km to get to find kind of areas. But all this in less than 50kms. We got more we than had bargained for.:P All of us were sort of lost in our own world :P but still keeping an eye on the road too. Least amount of traffic made it even more enjoyable.

I was signalled by the riders in front of me to go ahead and overtake, literally saying we'll take our own sweet time to reach.  It was really nice to see that every one was enjoying the ride. I can tell you I haven't taken even 10% of the pics of the route because if I were to stop and click I would be doing it every 500 meters. I remembered Madhuri again and said to myself,"Madhuri, every word you said about this route is true." And I am stating this even before the onset of heavy monsoon season. When we stopped to ask about our destination,we realised we had missed the entrance to this place and had come further 3-4 kms,but no one was complaining.Sign boards of animal crossing of wolves, elephants, wild buffaloes and even tiger.

We also got our share of off roading when we took the deviation from the main road towards the lake. With the help of locals we finally found the lake.Saw two bullets aready parked and few cycle enthusiasts were already there. The 3 guys at a distance with there DSLRs probably capturing the morning sun across the lake. When a line of bikes arrived and each and every one turned out to be a girl, there look made me wonder, from where did all these divas arrive :P
We had a nice round of introduction.Inspired by solo lady riders and their adventures, inspired by women who are married and with kids pursuing their passion.I've met men and heard of their adventure rides, but women who do just the same, was awesome  All the lady riders I've met have inspired me too ride and continue enjoy riding  By then we had ended up being the curious cases of the locals kids who finally broke their silence and interacted with us.Not long the forest officials enquired about our visit and suggested to leave early. After some time the guy insisted saying wild animals roam here and this place belongs to the wildlife reserve area. We also heard from the locals that there are crocodiles in the lake, luckily for us we didn't spot any.

From there the next destination was to make our tummies happy, having heard a lot about the vasu hotel being famour for their dosas,we head to Kanakapura town.Rosh who had been there before had warned the rest it's a small place but amazing dosa. The look on every girl's place after seeing Vasu hotel ,Rosh was bombarded in a friendly manner  of having come 15 kms extra just to have a dosa at this place ,I guess the girls were expecting a place to sit, relax and eat kinda of a surrounding.Poor Rosh,I had to come to her rescue from all these city girls  :P :P But in the end all the girls agreed the dosa tasted superb! So thumbs up to Vasu's hotel
After a nice heavy breakfast,it was time to say goodbye with a chocolate treat from Sonal to all of us.When we had to head back to Bangalore,we formed smaller groups based on the different destinations in Bangalore city and the time factor.
Our goodbyes was only to meet soon for another fantastic ride.

Enjoying Womenhood,Enjoying Life.
