Chanarayana Durga Trek

Being following the one day trek mails of Bangalore Ascenders (BASC) very closely, finally zeroed on one day trek to ChanarayanaDurga trek on 21st July 2013 around 100kms from Bangalore,Tumkur district.A big thanks to the trip organizer Vinay, who put up with all my queries about the trek and made it in every way possible for my friend Roopa and I to join our first trek with BASC.
Everything was falling into place for the trip to be amazing, and AMAZING it was.As I got ready to leave to meet the rest of the group,my mom, pulled my leg saying,"Why can't you just enjoy this cloudy weather by just relaxing at home and sleeping some more instead of going and climbing some hill?"Heading out of home with joy,I just replied,"That's what we adventures do Maa".
We headed out in three cars, that's how Roopa and I got to spend more time with Burua,Rajani and her BAVA :) (Murali). We had a nice breakfast at Kamat Upachar on the highway and from there we still had a lot to travel. We passed DevarayanaDurga hills and many more hills, still there was no sign of Chanarayana Durga Betta.
Then with all the turns we took through the narrow roads,Chanarayana Durga was standing tall right in front of us.Parked our vehicles, said cheese for the group snap at the bottom of the hill, enquired from the locals which route was best.As we headed just few yards up the hill, clouds welcomed us with sudden downpour. We enjoyed the rains under a tarpaulin sheet and what can I say about our group, even in that heavy rain, all of us were more interested in getting our fair share of the jacket fruit which we had purchased along the way.We waited for the rains to reside in order to resume our journey up the hill.It continued it drizzle which made our trek even more challenging.Rope came out to help us climb the slippery  rock surface, headed by our very own trek organizer Vinay. As the grown ups were battling the elements of nature, our little girl Megha one of the trek members studying in Class 3,silently made her way up the hill with her joyous spirit and her beautiful smile.
I thank the rain gods for making the place look even more beautiful in the rain.We reached a pond up the hill and that place will blow your mind away. The photographers were in full swing trying to capture the beauty of the surrounding and the moments spent with group. We reached the top of the hill under the guidance of a brave kid,a local to that place,Rizvan. We ended up at the back of the fort and there was no access to the fort from where we stood, but we adventures never lost heart, out came all the food items, gorging on all that we could lay our hands on.The rains didn't seem to bother us anymore, tarpaulin, good food, good company is all you need to enjoy this rainy weather on top of the hill.
This time I decided to just sit out in the rain and enjoy it to its full glory, partly it was because my jacket was still keeping me warm. Then it was time to head down. All of us left in small groups. The rock surface was almost dry by the time we descended. Thanks to  Raghunandan sir,for guiding me
down the hill when my legs were almost about to give way.One thing he said I would like to share is,"In BASC group,we all take care of each other."Later we halted for a round of introduction and group photo.People from all phases of life,we all became part of each others life for a small moment in time, which would last forever. :)

Ride to Maddur for a Mc D Burger

It wasn't intended to be a solo ride.Nor was I trying to claim a super woman tag.Nor did I wanted to prove anything to anyone. It was all for a simple desire straight from the heart,to ride.
Previous Sunday, complete bed rest, sprained my back and still recovering. That's when you become grateful for all the healthy days of your life. But when it comes to riding, somehow everything becomes bearable :P Decided on Shivagange, but last minute friends dropped out, saying it mite rain. And I was like,COME ON!!!! You guys did Chikamangalur in rain. And the the usual statement,"We'll go next week." Was really tired of hearing that. You never know what could come up next week.
So decided to head out alone. Was shit scared!!! Literally! On Mysore road, head out till Maddur. Choosing ccd or Mc donalds Burger was still a far off decision. My mind was eating me inside out,but as I went further away from city,it slowly began to quieten down. But then I started thinking, when I would ride to office in such an amazing weather,I would wonder how I wish I could have gone for a ride and now I had a chance. The worst fear was because I had a dream two days back, being lost some 70 kms from Bangalore and no help, that thought freaked me out what if that was a sign of what was to come. And the only way to find out was to go for a ride.Luckily, there was less traffic on Mysore road on a weekend.
I couldn't blame the rain gods,as I was heading towards their area of downpour. And so experienced riding through heavy rain, that was the scariest part. The voice inside my head saying, keep riding, keep riding! Turned out to be a good decision, because after few kms, there was absolutely no rain and luckily bright sunshine for some time. After that I just enjoyed it  Decided on a Mc D Burger. Enjoyed every bit of that meal   I found more women and family there at Mc D.Then happily headed straight home  .Riding on Bangalore to Mysore felt like riding the outskirts of Bangalore, not really a highway scene where your heading out to a far away destination,
When I reached Bangalore,I read a statement on the back of a bike saying,"Always do what your afraid to Do." I couldn't have agreed more.

65kms (one way) solo ride for a Burger!
